Matthew Elsby Wins $3,000 Six-Max Limit Hold'em Event at 2015 World Series of Poker

Arizona Poker Pro Adds $230,799 To His Lifetime Earnings

The $3,000 six-max limit hold’em event at the 2015 World Series of Poker attracted a field of 319 entrants, creating a total prize pool of $870,870. In the end, it was 38-year-old poker pro Matthew Elsby who came out on top, earning his first gold bracelet at his second WSOP final table appearance, along with the $230,799 first-place prize.

Elsby, who resides in Chandler, Arizona, first made a WSOP final table back in 2011, when he took fifth in the $1,500 limit hold’em event. He also earned $147,960 for finishing runner up in the 2012 Arizona State Poker Championship. He now has career lifetime live tournament earnings of $622,517.

In order to secure the bracelet, Elsby had to outlast both Alexander Kuzmin (5th) and Gabriel Nassif (2nd) at the final table. Other notables who made the money in this event included Mark Newhouse (26th), Daniel Negreanu (25th), Jorryt Van Hoof (22nd), Randal Flowers (20th), Ronnie Bardah (16th), David Chiu (14th), Matt Hawrilenko (11th), William Kakon (9th), Keven Stammen (8th), and Brian Hastings (7th).
