Like The Old Days: Phil Hellmuth, Mike Matusow Battle Heads-Up At Poker Tournament'Poker Brat' Outlasts 'The Mouth' In $1,100 Tournament |
|
Poker legends Phil Hellmuth and Mike Matusow have had some epic poker hands with each other over their long and storied careers. On Tuesday, both men were playing heads-up in a side event at the 2017 WPT L.A. Poker Classic at Commerce Casino (main event begins Saturday).
The $1,100 Omaha hi-low eight-or-better/stud hi-low eight-or-better tournament drew a field of 72 runners. The “Poker Brat” entered heads-up play with a 2-1 chip advantage and outlasted “The Mouth” to win $25,200. Matusow pocketed $14,400 for his efforts.
Commerce Tournament Coordinator Justin Hammer recorded a portion of their battle.

Matusow obviously wasn’t too thrilled about the result.

The 14-time WSOP bracelet winner of course was all smiles after his victory.

Though the buy-in was relatively small, Hellmuth was finally able to get some tournament revenge on Matusow, who ran well in their 2013 NBC Heads-Up battle to give him that title and $750,000.
Here’s just one more unforgettable hand the two poker stars have played together.
