Jaffee told WSOP reporters that 2017 had been a sub-par year for him on the felt prior to this recent hot streak.

“This has actually been my worst year of poker in like the last seven or eight years. So, it’s been frustrating knowing how much fun I could be having living there, but yet I wasn’t putting the financial part of my life in the right spot. So, I had a bunch of losing months in a row and it turned into a losing year,” said Jaffee. “That made it tough, but this helps and it feels like the momentum is shifting and I’m looking forward to 2018.”

Jaffee came into the final day in tenth chip position with 14 players remaining. The chip leader after day 2 was Kelly Minkin, who ultimately was eliminated in third place when her 10Heart Suit10Diamond Suit lost a flip to Brendan Baksh’s AClub SuitJHeart Suit. Jaffe had chipped up considerably by that point and took roughly 9 million chips into heads-up play against Baksh’s 4.8 million.

The final hand of the event saw Baksh shove from the button only to run into Jaffee’s KHeart SuitKClub Suit. Baksh held the JHeart Suit10Diamond Suit and was in need of help from the board.
