James Holzhauer made Jeopardy! history on Tuesday evening’s episode. The professional sports bettor from Las Vegas won his 14th straight game and $118,816, which moved him over the $1 million mark in winnings.
Holzhauer joined Ken Jennings as the only two contestants to ever win seven-figures in regular play. Over the course of his nearly three-week winning streak, Holzhauer has amassed $1,061,554 and is now the quickest to ever reach the $1 million mark.
According to The Jeopardy! Fan, the only other person to ever reach the milestone, Ken Jennings, wasn’t even halfway to $1 million through 14 games. With an average final score of $75,825, Holzhauer is on pace to pass Jennings’ $2.52 million in another 20 games.
Jennings currently holds the longest winning streak in the game show’s history with 74. If Holzhauer were to keep this pace and match Jennings’ streak, he would win $5.611 million. It took Jennings 30 games to reach $1 million in winnings.

Holzhauer’s aggressive approach to wagering is what sets the sports bettor apart from the rest. Heading into final Jeopardy! on Tuesday, he held a $60,416 lead over the field. He wagered $50,000 and was correct in his response. Over the course of his performance on Tuesday’s show, he answered correctly 41 times and gave an incorrect response just once.
With another six-figure score on Tuesday, Holzhauer now holds the top seven one-day totals and eight of the top 10. He’s the only contestant in the history of the game to win six-figures in a single game.
