The Heartland Poker Tour (HPT) was designed to give all poker players a shot at "the big time." Modest buy-ins, televised final tables, big prize pools, and events in casinos all over the country make it possible for anyone to stake a claim in a major poker tournament. The founders imagined people just like Dan Zogman winning their events.

Final Table

Zogman is the most recent HPT winner. He is a 47-year-old Home Depot employee from McHenry, Illinois, who parlayed a $100 satellite into nearly $228,000 and his 15 minutes of fame.

Winner Dan Zogman

The Majestic Star Casino in Gary, Indiana hosted the championship tournament. It was a $2,200 buy-in that attracted 442 entrants. Players battled through the three-day tournament for their piece of the $816,612 prize pool. New records were set for player participation and prize money.

The following are the final table payouts:

  1. Dan Zogman: $227,881
  2. Jimmy Kasputis Jr.: $113,906
  3. Scott Bohlman: $73,225
  4. Kenny Nguyen: $54,919
  5. Mark Owens: $44,749
  6. Greg Monaldi $38,647
  7. David Makula: $30,510
