The Las Vegas Strip moved another step closer to what it was like before the COVID-19 pandemic as MGM Resorts and Caesars Entertainment announced plans to reopen more of its Las Vegas Strip properties.

MGM announced it would reopen Luxor on June 25 at 10 a.m. The gaming giant will open Mandalay Bay and Aria on July 1 at 10 a.m. as well.

With the opening of Excalibur Hotel & Casino this morning, MGM is currently operating four of its Strip properties. New York-New York, Bellagio, and MGM Grand were reopened on June 4, the first day Nevada casinos were eligible to open their doors.

The only two MGM properties without an announced reopening are Park MGM and The Mirage.

“Our guests are having a great time and are thrilled to be back in the city they love,” said MGM’s acting CEO Bill Hornbuckle to local Las Vegas news outlets. “We are eager to get more of our employees back to work and enhance the Las Vegas experience with additional resorts.”

With most of its Las Vegas casinos having concrete plans to reopen, MGM will be able to begin rehiring most of the 63,000 employees it furloughed at the start of the coronavirus-induced casino shutdown.

Caesars also announced that it would reopen The LINQ Hotel & Experience on Friday, June 11 at 11 a.m. It’s the fourth Strip property reopened by Caesars after it opened Caesars Palace, the Flamingo and Harrah’s Las Vegas as soon as the company was eligible to.

Caesars has still yet to announce dates for the reopening of The Cromwell, Bally’s Las Vegas, Planet Hollywood, Paris and the Rio.
