|
There were 154 entries in the mix on Day 1B of the $400,000 guaranteed Card Player Poker Tour event at The Venetian® Resort Las Vegas..
This $1,600 buy-in tournament features three starting flights, with 12.5% of the field making the money each day. Day 1A resulted in 12 players advancing to Day 2, each being guaranteed at least a min-cash. The second flight saw 20 more secure a bag and tag, with more prize money awaiting on Sunday. A total of 244 entries have now been made.
The starting stacks for the tournament were worth 40,000 in chips, and the blind levels were set to 40 minutes. Late registration and re-entry were available through the start of level 13, and that’s the same for the last starting flight on Day 1C tomorrow.
Over 13 hours after cards got in the air, the day concluded on the final hand of Level 18 as many players were already heading to a break. Ping Liu lost a flip with A-10 suited against the pocket deuces of Vinh Ho to bring the day to a close.
When the dust settled after that final hand, poker professional Michael Rossitto held the chip lead with a stack of 733,000, just edging out Mira Felice and her stack worth 702,500.
Rossitto (pictured above) is no stranger to success in the poker world, with more than $3.46 million in career earnings thanks to 212 cashes. He holds seven tournament titles, and many of those wins have come right here in Vegas. His largest score was worth $604,637, and he booked that with a win at the Wynn Millions main event back in March 2023.
Other big stacks at the end of play above the half-million mark included Dave Ouellette with 576,000 and Vinh Ho’s 502,000. Many other notables booked their ticket to Day 2 tonight, including World Poekr Tour Venetian champion Ben Palmer, two-time bracelet winner Shannon Shorr, Patrick Eskandar, Jesse Yaginuma, David Coleman, 2013 WSOP main event champion Ryan Riess, and WPT champion James Romero.
The tournament will fire up again for Day 1C starting on Saturday at 11:10 AM. Day 2 will begin Sunday at 11:00 AM. The remaining field will play down to the next CPPT champion.
