Brock Wilson emerged victorious from a field of 76 entries in event no.7 at the 2024 Poker Masters. The professional player from New York earned $330,600 and his second PokerGO Tour title as the champion of this $15,100 buy-in no-limit hold’em event, which was the penultimate tournament of the series. This score grew Wilson’s career earnings to more than $9.7 million.
This was Wilson’s third title and 13th final-table finish of the year. The 504 Card Player Player of the Year points he was awarded for this latest victory increased his point total to 3,992, which is good for 23rd place in the 2024 POY standings presented by Global Poker.
Wilson also moved inside the top 50 in the season-long PGT points race thanks to this win. His 777 points are enough to claim the 46th-place spot in the rankings. The 331 PGT points he earned brought his series total, which puts him in fifth place heading into the last event on the schedule.
Wilson was the chip leader heading into day 2. Only five contenders moved on from day 1, although 11 made the money and earned a share of the $1,140,000 prize pool. Among those to cash before hitting the rail late on day 1 were bracelet winner Alex Foxen (11th), Victoria Livschitz (10th), two-time bracelet winner Justin Saliba (9th), bracelet winner Nicholas Seward (8th), and four-time bracelet winner Kristen Foxen (6th).
Recent Super High Roller Bowl IX winner Seth Davies ran A-3 suited into the pocket jacks of Wilson to hit the rail in fifth place ($79,800). Not long after that, David Stamm’s K-7 failed to beat out the A-3 suited of Michael ‘Texas Mike’ Moncek to narrow the field to three. Stamm earned $108,300 for his fourth-place showing.
Two-time bracelet winner John Riordan (3rd – $153,900) woke up with pocket sixes in the big blind and called Wilsons shove from the small blind. It was a race, with Wilson holding 10-8. Wilson flopped a pair of tens and held from there to take a sizable lead into heads-up play with Moncek.
In the final hand, Wilson shoved with K6 from the button and Moncek called with Q4. The board came down A1063A and Moncek was eliminated in second place ($216,600). The two-time bracelet winner now has nearly $2.8 million in recorded tournament earnings to his name after recording two second-place showings during this series. He also earned $165,000 as the runner-up in event no. 2. He sits just ahead of Wilson in the series-long points race with 382.
