$5,000 Heads-Up Event to Take Place in Canada

The Canadian Open Poker Championship is March 5-9

The Deerfoot Inn and Casino in Calgary will host the Canadian Open Poker Championship March 5-9. The highlight of this weeklong series is a $5,000 heads-up no-limit hold’em tournament that will be capped at 128 entrants.

The schedule is as follows:

  • March 5: $500 no-limit hold’em charity event
  • March 6: $5,000 heads-up no-limit hold’em main event
  • March 7: $1,500 six-player shorthanded no-limit hold’em event
  • March 8: $1,000 no-limit hold’em event
  • March 9: $500 no-limit hold’em event

The COPC is owned by Heads Up Entertainment, Inc., a company that calls itself “a global media and entertainment company engaged in the creation of branded entertainment through the development, production, and marketing of televised programming based on poker and other entertainment themes.” It’s currently in negotiation to hold more Canadian Poker Championship events in 2008.
