Birthday Present Entry for Chris Moorman's Father Turns Into £88,630 Victory

Simon Moorman, father of Chris “Moorman1” Moorman, has won the fourth leg of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour at the G Simon Moorman wins GUKPT ManchesterCasino Manchester. Moorman, who was gifted the seat by his son as a birthday present, topped the field of 298 players to take down the £88,630 top prize and a seat at the Champion of Champion’s event in November.





Moorman, playing only his second ever live tournament, beat Harri Isomaki from Finland heads up, pushing a 5-1 chip lead (despite an early double up from Isomaki) over the line, calling an all in reraise of 1 million chips with A-5 and hitting an ace on the flop to stay well ahead of the Finn’s K-8.





Moorman’s son, Chris, said after the victory, “The only way I can top this is to win the main event of the World Series of Poker.”
