Mike EiseHollywood couldn’t have scripted it any better. After Mike Eise won his seat to the 2009 World Series of Poker at a local poker club in Missouri, he found a way to outlast 2,638 players over a three-day span. The event culminated with Eise taking home $639,331 and the coveted gold bracelet in a $1,500 no-limit hold’em event on Monday night.

As if the movie rights weren’t already being purchased, this was Eise’s first cash in any major tournament, and it comes on poker’s biggest stage against some of the best players in the world.

Eise got all of his chips in the middle twice to double up at the final table, which propelled him to a massive chip lead once the tournament got to heads-up play. When heads-up play began, Eise had a 3.5-1 chip advantage over Jeff Chang and never looked back.

“I have three little girls, and I’m taking them to Disneyland,” said Eise after his win.

Here are a look at the results.

1. Mike Eise – $639,331
2. Jeff Chang – $392,494
3. Rico Ramirez – $261,963
4. Jason “JP_OSU” Potter – $185,444
5. Barry Berger – $139,353
6. Zach Fritz – $111,266
7. Avi Braz – $93,622
8. Jose Luis Franco – $83,180
9. Mike Zulker – $77,778

Here are a look at the elimination hands as seen in Card Player’s Live Updates.

Jason PotterMike Zulker Eliminated in Ninth Place ($77,778)

Jason Potter raises to 100,000 from the hijack, and Mike Zulker moves all in from the button. Potter calls and has him covered.

Zulker: KHeart Suit QHeart Suit
Potter: KDiamond Suit JDiamond Suit

Board: KClub Suit 7Spade Suit 7Diamond Suit 6Diamond Suit JSpade Suit

Zulker gets it in ahead as both players flop two pair, Zulker’s kicker plays. Potter spikes a jack on the river to make a better two pair, eliminating Mike Zulker in ninth place ($77,778).

Jose Luis Franco Eliminated in Eighth Place ($83,180)

Rico Ramirez raised to 125,000, and Jose Luis Franco moved in for his last 600,000. Ramirez called and showed AHeart Suit JClub Suit, which dominated Franco’s AClub Suit 3Club Suit.

The board ran out KClub Suit 10Club Suit 9Heart Suit JHeart Suit 7Heart Suit, and Franco was eliminated.

Avi Braz Eliminated in Seventh Place ($93,622)

Mike Eise raised to 150,000 from under the gun, and both Avi Braz and Rico Ramirez made the call.

The flop came out AClub Suit 10Heart Suit 2Heart Suit, and Braz bet 175,000. Ramirez folded, and Eise raised to 675,000.

Braz moved all in, and Eise called with AHeart Suit KSpade Suit, which had Braz’s ADiamond Suit JHeart Suit beaten. The turn and river came 6Heart Suit 3Diamond Suit, and Braz was eliminated.

Zach Fritz Eliminated in Sixth Place ($111,266)

Jeff Chang raised to 180,000 from under the gun, and Zach Fritz moved all in for his last 815,000.

Mike Eise called in the big blind, and Chang moved all in, as well. Eise called that too, with ADiamond Suit QHeart Suit. Fritz showed AClub Suit KSpade Suit, and Chang showed KClub Suit KHeart Suit.

The board came out 10Diamond Suit 8Diamond Suit 7Spade Suit 6Club Suit 5Diamond Suit, and Chang tripled up, busting Fritz from the tournament.

Barry Berger Eliminated in Fifth Place ($139,353)

Barry Berger raised to 215,000, and Rico Ramirez called on the button. The flop came down QSpade Suit 8Spade Suit 6Diamond Suit, and Ramirez bet 500,000. Berger put in his last 800,000, and Ramirez called, showing 10Spade Suit 9Spade Suit.

Berger was slightly ahead with JHeart Suit JClub Suit, but that changed when the JDiamond Suit hit the turn.

Needing the board to pair, Berger was eliminated when the 4Heart Suit hit the river.

Jason Potter Eliminated in Fourth Place ($185,444)

Jason Potter was all in on the button for his last million and was called by Jeff Chang in the big blind.

Potter showed QSpade Suit 10Spade Suit and needed a lot of help to beat Chang’s 10Club Suit 10Diamond Suit.

The dealer put out the flop of QClub Suit 4Spade Suit, and Potter’s supporters erupted in celebration. The dealer had failed to spread the flop properly, and one card remained hidden. It turns out that card was the case 10, the 10Heart Suit.

The crowd once again reacted wildly, this time for Chang.

The turn and river came ASpade Suit 7Club Suit, and Potter was eliminated from the tournament.

Rico Ramirez Eliminated in Third Place ($261,963)

Mike Eise raised to 300,000 from the button and Rico Ramirez called in the big blind. The flop came KClub Suit JClub Suit JHeart Suit, and both players checked.

The turn was the 9Diamond Suit and Ramirez bet 725,000. Eise moved all in and Ramirez called for his tournament life with JDiamond Suit 4Diamond Suit. Eise showed 9Club Suit 9Heart Suit for the boat, however, and Ramirez was eliminated when the 10Heart Suit hit the river.

Mike Eise Wins Event No. 28 ($639,331) Jeff Chang Eliminated in Second Place ($392,494)

Mike Eise min-raised on the button, and Jeff Chang called. The flop came out 6Diamond Suit 3Club Suit 3Spade Suit, and Chang checked.

Eise put Chang all in, and he insta-called with just AHeart Suit JDiamond Suit for ace high. It turns out he was right, and Eise could only show 8Heart Suit 7Diamond Suit.

The turn and river came 7Heart Suit and 5Spade Suit, however, and Chang was eliminated. Eise earned his first career bracelet and a first-place prize of $639,331.
