Dream Team Poker recently launched in Las Vegas and flourished with events at Hard Rock, Caesars, and the Rio for the World Series of Poker. But now it may have found a permanent home in Los Angeles at the Bicycle Casino.
The company announced last week that it had signed an agreement with the Bike to run an 11-week tournament league every Monday night in conjunction with Monday Night Football. Besides the prize pools each week, the overall league winners will win cash and tickets to Super Bowl XLIV in Miami on Feb. 7.
“We’re excited to incorporate Dream Team Poker into our Monday Night Football parties and poker tournaments,” said Zaven Esmaili, the Bike’s casino manager. “We think it’s a perfect fit with MNF and the sports team concept, and we think our players will like playing with their squad as a team in an event that gives them more ways to win.”
Dream Team Poker allows players to form teams of three to compete in poker tournaments that reward players both for how well they do individually and how well they do as a team. With much of the prize pool designated for team performance, there is a greater incentive to root on your fellow teammates as the tournament progresses.
“This has never been done before in poker, and we are excited to launch the first league of this kind with the Bicycle Casino,” Dream Team Poker’s CEO Daniel Delshad said of the new team poker league.
The league begins today and runs through Dec. 28. Teams can register from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. every Monday night, and the tournament will kick off at 7 p.m.
The buy-in for one of the Monday night tournaments is $201 per team — or $67 per player — and teams may play as few or as many of the Monday night events as they choose. However, the more a team plays, the better chance they have at competing for the grand prize Super Bowl tickets. For each tourney a team plays, it earns at least $600 in chips for the championship event.
