Neil Channing, former Irish Open champion and head of blackbeltpoker.com, today revealed on his blog that his hotel room at Citywest, Dublin, scene of his victory there in 2008, was burgled last month.
Channing, who was in Dublin for a poker tournament had a briefcase full of cash stolen from his room at the hotel. The hotel room did not have a safe and Channing was too rushed to leave the cash at the reception safe.
He said, “I don’t really want to talk too much about the robbery. I’m a bit upset over it and obviously felt I’d been specifically targeted. I’m clearly an idiot for leaving it in my room and there isn’t much I can do. I was also unlucky to be on the floor with no CCTV and to have had such a lot of cash.”
