Cake PokerStarting Dec. 6, the big Sunday tournament on Cake Poker will raise its guarantee from $100,000 to $125,000. The tournament schedule has recently been adjusted by Cardroom Manager Lee Jones and now features more than $6 million in guarantees each month.

Jones has been key in the development of the site, but he credits the online poker community for speaking up about the changes they want to see implemented.

“People throw ideas around, and I throw my share,” he said. “Then we see which ones make everybody go, ‘Hey – that sounds cool.’ But some of the big changes since my arrival [include] a completely overhauled tournament schedule, synchronized tournament breaks, and an official policy of paying real money for bug reporting. On a more general note, I have worked hard to establish a high-bandwidth, real-time link between myself as a Cake representative and the players via e-mail and the various poker forums. As far as I’m concerned, that’s one of the greatest benefits I can provide.”

Cake’s Sunday tournament usually features a $150+$12 buy-in, starts at 9 p.m. EST, and always qualifies for Card Player Online Player of the Year points. David “Sir Sands” Sands, who currently sits in second place in the rankings, has final-tabled the tournament twice, giving him crucial points to stay in the hunt.
