Pala Casino RoomThe Pala Casino Spa and Resort has completed a $100 million expansion and renovation project. The Pala now has 507 rooms, including 82 luxury suites. All rooms now include flat-screen televisions, luxury armories, iPod docking clock radios, and high-speed Internet. All suites also now have in-room Jacuzzis.

“The upgrades to our hotel rooms and suites not only complete our renovation but also provide our hotel guests the ultimate experience in comfort and luxury,” said Bill Bembenek, Pala’s chief executive officer. “We have been selected as a AAA four-diamond award winner for six consecutive years by the American Automobile Association, and one of our goals is to maintain that status.”

The expansion and renovation project began 18 months ago, and it also includes improvements to the resort. Two new restaurants have opened — the Amigos Mexican eatery and Sushi Sake, a full-service sushi bar — which brings the total number of dining choices on the property up to 10. The Choices buffet has also been expanded. The casino floor has added a 15-table poker room and a high-limit gaming area, which has its own slots room, table games, lounge, and private entrance.

The poker room will host the $25,000 Annie Duke Free Roll Poker Challenge on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010. The first 117 players who log 100 hours in the Pala poker room between now and Jan. 27 will win entry into the tournament.

The expansion project also came during a crucial period for the local economy. Bembenek said that “Pala is the only Southern California gaming and entertainment venue that significantly re-invested in its property this year, despite the difficult economy. The project created 650 construction jobs during the year, and with the expansion, we have created 120 new jobs at Pala in food and beverage, gaming, and our support team.”
