Everest Poker Bought by Betclic Owner

Mangas Gaming, Owner of French Bookmaker Betclic, Buys 60 Percent Stake in Everest Poker

Everest Poker bought by Mangas GamingOnline poker room Everest Poker has been taken over by Mangas Gaming, owner of French betting site Betclic and Scandinavian site Expekt.

The deal sees Mangas taking 60 percent of Everest Poker. Everest’s previous owner, Gigamedia, will retain a 40 percent share in the business.

Everest Poker earned $24 million in poker revenue in 2008.

Isabelle Parize, chief executive of Mangas Gaming, said, “We are very proud that  Everest is joining our group. It is a great company; it is a brand with an  outstanding awareness in the world of poker, well known for its know-how,  its platform reliability and its strict policies. Mangas Gaming is  reinforcing its position as a major European player in both the online  poker and sports betting.”  

Everest poker employs 250 people and is expected to absorb Betclic Poker players creating a market leader is the soon-to-be deregulated French market.

The size of the deal was not reported.
