Stuart RutterThe 2010 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour’s fifth leg came to a close at the G Casino in Coventry with Birmingham’s Stuart Rutter taking down the first prize of £41,910.

It took three days of play and 141 other players to beat but in the end the 27-year-old pro walked away with the top prize and a seat in the Tour’s £150,000 Champion of Champions tournament. Rutter, who was sponsored by gcasino.com, beat some well-known names to the top spot on his record equalling fourth GUKPT main event final table.

After putting Darren Grosvenor out in third place, he took a 6-1 chip lead against his final opponent, Danny Toffel. However Toffel fought it out for almost two hours before Rutter was finally crowned champ when his pocket nines beat Toffel’s pocket fours.

The final results and payouts were:

First Stuart Rutter £41,910
Second Danny Toffel £29,460
Third Darren Grosvenor £18,460
Fourth Hassan Mohammed £11,360
Fifth Tom Mannion £8,880
Sixth Jeff Kimber £6,740
Seventh Roberto Romanello £5,320
Eighth Rupert Elder £3,900
Ninth Nick Wealthall £2,840
Tenth Leon Campbell £2,480

Rutter said, “This win is absolutely perfect timing coming just one week before I set off for Vegas and the WSOP. It gives me a great confidence boost which I always struggle for on the GUKPT having made three previous final tables and seeing them go wrong each time.”

While the main Tour takes a seasonal break, the Summer Series will now kick off at the G Casino in Blackpool and the G Casino in Thanet, Kent. The first mini festival in Blackpool begins this Wednesday with many side events taking place before the two-day £500 main event kicks off on Sunday, May 30. The second mini festival begins in Kent on May 29 with the two-day £300 main event starting the following day.
