Jeffrey Tebben won event no. 24 ($1,000 no limit hold’em) of the 2010 World Series of Poker take down his first career WSOP bracelet. He took home $503,389 for his efforts.
The four-day event took five calendar days to complete to account for the two separate flights on day one. The event attracted 3,289 players and accumulated a prize pool of $2,960,100. There were 342 places paid with a min-cash netting $1,864. Notables who made the money include David Sands (69th), Burt Boutin (196th) and Matt Stout (221st).
The final table took a little under seven hours to complete, including the dinner break. Tebben entered the final table as the short stack but fought all the way back and found himself holding a 3-1 chip lead against J.D. McNamara. Heads-up play lasted less than 30 minutes. That’s when McNamara called off the last of his stack with pocket jacks against Tebben’s trip-kings, securing the title for Tebben.

Michael Gross Eliminated In Ninth Place ($38,629)
Kiet Tran raised to 85,000 preflop and the action folded around to Michael Gross. He moved in for his last 465,000 and Tran made the call.
Gross was in dominating position when he showed A10 to counter Tran’s J10.
But the flop came QJ6, giving Tran the lead. The turn was the 3 and the river was the 6, offering Gross no help and he was the first casualty of the day.
Greg Pohler Eliminated In Eighth Place ($50,410)
Greg Pohler moved all in for 470,000 from the cutoff and the action folded to Jeffrey Tebben in the big blind. He made the call and turned over AJ.
Pohler needed help as he showed down A5. The board ran out 109644, offering no help to Pohler and he was eliminated.
David Tolbert Eliminated In Seventh Place ($66,513)
Denis Murphy moved all in from the cutoff for 495,000. The button folded and action was on David Tolbert in the small blind.
He called with his final 480,000 and turned over JJ. It was no good, however, as Murphy turned over QQ.
The board ran out 5432K and Tolbert was eliminated.
Blake Kelso Eliminated In Sixth Place ($88,654)
Blake Kelso moved in for his last 630,000 from under the gun. J.D. McNamara then reshove to isolate Kelso. The rest of the table mucked and McNamara turned over 1010.
Kelso showed down J10 and needed a lot of help. The flop came down QQ9, giving Kelso an open-ended straight draw.
But the turn and river were bricks, bringing the A and 3 and Kelso was eliminated.
David Cai Eliminated In Fifth Place ($119,410)
David Cai moved all in for his last 890,000 from under the gun. Action folded around to J.D. McNamara in the big blind and he made the call.
Cai turned over K8 but was dominated by McNamara’s AK.
The board ran out K7268 and Cai was eliminated.
Denis Murphy Eliminated In Fourth Place ($162,568)
Denis Murphy raised to 190,000 from under the gun and Jeffrey Tebben called from the button. The flop came down K52 and Murphy led out for 320,000.
Tebben made the call and the turn was the 4. Murphy moved all in and Tebben made the quick call, turning over A3 for a straight. Murphy had outs though as he turned over AQ for the nut flush draw.
But the 2 river sealed his fate and he was out.
Kiet Tran Eliminated In Third Place ($223,665)
Kiet Tran limped in from the small blind and the action was on Jeffrey Tebben in the big blind. He raised to 350,000 and Tran moved over the top for the rest of his stack of over 2 million.
Tebben made a quick call and turned over 99. Tran was in trouble as he turned over Q9.
The board ran out 101036J and Tran was eliminated.

J.D. McNamara raised to 280,000 from the small blind and Jeffrey Tebben made the call. The flop came down K108 and both players checked.
The turn was the K and Tebben fired 350,000 out of turn. McNamara made the call and the river was the 7. Tebben checked and McNamara bet 325,000. Tebben countered by moving all in. McNamara made the call and put himself at risk holding JJ.
Tebben turned over K2 for trips and took down the bracelet.
