Vedes: (X-X)-8 On the river Vedes bet again and his first opponent took a while pondering his options and eventually tossed in a call. Mercier quickly grabbed 1,200 and threw in a call. Vedes turned over the 9 “Of course,” muttered Mercier as he and the player in seat 8 tossed their cards into he muck. Mercier slipped to 31,000 and seat 8 has just 4,500 left. Vedes now has 51,000. Monette Bests Seidel We picked up this hand on sixth street with John Monette tangling with Erik Seidel. Seidel checked and called a bet on sixth with the boards looking like this. Huck Seed had the last of his chips in the middle again on seventh street, this time against the player in seat 2. Seat 2 thought for a bit before finally calling. Seed chopped last time with the low end of the hand. This time, he tabled J Seat 2 tabled an 8-7 low for the other half of the pot and Seed was sticking around some more with his short stack of 4,800. Schulman Scoops With Diamonds Nick Schulman bet 5,000 after seventh street was dealt and the player in seat 5 made the call. Sirous Jamshidi was also in the hand but mucked after the bet. Schulman announced he had a flush, showing (9 Seat 5 shook his head and then threw his hand in the muck. Schulman scooped a nice pot and was around 60,000.
Phil Hellmuth led out with 2,500 on fourth street and Gus Hansen made the call. Hellmuth led out for 5,000 on fifth street and Hansen tagged along again. Recent WSOP Europe Main Event champion Barry Shulman had a rough level 9, dropping to as low as 25,000 before bouncing back a bit when he eliminated high stakes regular David “viffer” Peat. Peat moved all in on the short stack from under the gun for his last 4,200 and was called by two unknowns and Shulman in late position. The flop came down 8-6-4 and Shulman made an isolation bet, getting heads-up with the all-in Peat. Peat showed 9-4 and needed help against Shulman’s 6-5. The turn was a 7, giving Shulman the straight but Peat a better straight draw, however the river was an Ace and Peat hit the rail. Shulman suffered the same fate, however, just moments before the end of the evening when his dominated ace fell to PokerStars Caribbean Adventure winner Poorya Nazari.
Marco Johnson got heads-up with an unknown players on a board reading J-J-7-K-K and was faced with a tough decision for his last 62,000. Johnson took his time as Phil Ivey, Barry Greenstein and Matt Stout looked on and finally made the call. His opponent showed ace high and Johnson scooped the pot with J-9 for the underfull.
