Level 4 Update: Jimmy Fricke Increases Stack
Jun 20, '09
Blinds: 200-400
Players Remaining: 239 out of 295
Notable Eliminations:
Peter Eastgate
Big Hands:

Fricke’s Set Holds, Doubles Up
On a flop of J 10 5 , there was a bet of 7000 and Jimmy Fricke moved all in for his last 16,975. After a few moments of contemplation, his opponent tossed in the 9975 to make the call.
Fricke showed the 10 10 9 8 , which was good for middle set and an open-ended straight draw. His opponent tabled the K J 9 10 , which was top two pair and a gut-shot straight draw.
The turn was the 9 and the river was the 6 , meaning that Fricke’s hand held up and he doubled up. 20 minutes later, against the same opponent, Fricke made quad fives to eliminate him from the tournament.
Raymer Moves All In, Gets a Bunch of Folds
After three limps, John Juanda made it 2600 from the button. Greg Raymer called from the small blind, Dan Shak came along from the big blind, Burt Boutin, Robert Mizrachi and the other limper also made the call.
The flop was A K 8 and it was checked to Mizrachi who bet 15,000. It was folded back to Raymer who tanked for a few minutes before moving all in for only another 8500 more. Everybody folded around back to Mizrachi and he instantly mucked his cards, allowing Raymer to take the pot.
Scott Clements Takes a Small Pot
On a flop of K 10 8 , Marty Smyth bet out 2400 and was met with a raise to 7000 by Scott Clements. Smyth opted to make the call and the J fell on the turn, which both players checked.
The 5 fell on the river and both players checked again. Clements turned over the 8 8 6 9 , good for middle set and the pot.

The board ran out 5 Q 5 5 10, giving a full house to the unknown player and eliminating Fricke and Fitoussi on the same hand.
Grundy Takes Small Pot off Hanson
On a board of 9 10 6 A , Ben Grundy bet 12,000 and John Hanson made the call. The river was the 9 and both players checked.
Grundy announced “flush” as he turned over his K 10 3 5 . Hanson held onto his cards, stared at the board, mumbled under his breath, and then took multiple looks at Grundy’s hand before finally releasing putting his cards into the muck.

Jonas Entin Cripples Tom McEvoy
The final board read 6 7 8 K 9 and Jonas Entin made a pot sized bet on the river, which was eventually called by Tom McEvoy.
Unfortunately for McEvoy, Entin tabled J 10 8 4 , which was the nut straight and McEvoy mucked his hand. McEvoy was finished off and eliminated just a few hands later.

Big Hands:
Jimmy Fricke Doubles Up With Quads
On a flop of 7 7 8 , Jimmy Fricke moved all-in for 1,125, a little less than half the starting stack for the tournament. His opponent in seat 8 went into the tank before finally calling. Fricke immediately flipped over the nuts of 7 7 . His opponent sheepishly turned over the 9 9 and needed runner, runner perfect to eliminate the 2007 Aussie Millions runner-up.
Dale Pinchot Gets Pot-Comitted
On a flop of J 10 9 , the player in seat 4 bets 350 and Dale Pinchot raises to 950. The player in seat 9 moves all in behind him for a total of 1,325. The original bettor folds and Pinchot calls the 425 raise. Pinchot show J 10 for top two pair, but seat 9 turns over 10 10 for middle set. The turn and river are the K and the 9 , no help for Pinchot who is left with 1,800 after this hand.

Phil Ivey Flops Flush, Is Eliminated On The River
Holding the 10 8 , Phil Ivey got it all-in on the flop of A J 7 against the set of jacks of Nick Derke. The turn didn’t pair the board, however the A on the river gave Derke a full house and eliminated the 5-time bracelet winner.
Jacobo Fernandez Eliminated
With 525 already in the pot on a flop of J 7 4 , first to act, Jacobo Fernandez checks to the player in seat 6 who bets 400. Fernandez raises to 1,025, leaving himself with just 700 behind. Seat 6 tanks before putting Fernandez all in; Fernandez is covered. Fernandez calls and turns over Q Q for the overpair while seat 6 shows 8 7 for middle pair. The turn is the 8 , giving seat 6 two pair and the 3 on the river sends Fernandez to the rail half-way through Level 2.
Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi Eliminated
After raising to 125 pre-flop with the 10 8 , Michael Mizrachi saw a flop of 8 5 4 with three other players. Action was checked to Mizrachi who moved all in for about 1,000 total. Hands were folded until an opponent snap called with pocket fours, for bottom set. The turn of the 7 put The Grinder ahead, but his opponent filled up on the river as a five fell. Just like Ivey, The Grinder was eliminated with a flush against a rivered full house.

Mar 16, '09

Jon "PearlJammer" Turner Makes Sick Read, Busts Anyway
Mar 17, '09
Stanley Wasserkug, Chris Amaral, Jimmy Fricke and Jon Turner see a flop of 10 6 2 . Wasserkug bets 3,000 and Chris Amaral moves all in for 28,000.
Jimmy Fricke calls over a tournament reporter to show him his hand and then mucks. Turner sees Fricke's actions and decides to call all in for about 16,000 in chips.
The action is back on Wasserkug, who would be playing for most of his stack. Wasserkug calls and before any of the cards are turned over, Turner slams the table and explaines his reasoning.
Turner states that he knew Amaral was pushing with a spade draw and decided to call all in with 9 9 , knowing Fricke had folded a hand like 9 8 (Fricke actually held 9 7 ). He never actually thought that Wasserkug would call all in with a ten.
Sure enough, Amaral shows K J and Wasserkug is ahead with J 10 . The turn is the Q and Turner is drawing dead. Amaral picks up a straight draw as well and hits it when the river comes in the form of the A .
Turner is eliminated, Wasserkug is crippled and Amaral takes a huge pot.

WHOAH! Huge Controversy!

To get to the jist of it, Scott Seiver has been eliminated with the best hand by Jimmy Fricke.
On a board reading K-10-8-K-4, Scott Seiver moved all in and Jimmy Fricke went into the tank. Eventually, Fricke made the call and Seiver said, "You win," as he slightly motioned his cards forward.
Fricke reveals A-Q high and Seiver explodes, saying, "Oh no, I had deuces!" Seiver goes to flip up his hand but the dealer has already mucked them and the floor will not let him retrieve them. The tournament director comes over and asks the dealer whether or not Seiver's hand was ever tabled. The dealer informs him that his pocket deuces were in fact, never tabled and the floor instructs her to award the pot and everything Seiver has behind, to Fricke.
At this point, Seiver is livid. Screaming at the floor, demanding to see a supervisor. For a short while, he refuses to leave the table, pleading his case that he never mucked his cards. Seiver explains, frantically, that he was only moving his hands forward in an effort to show down his hand.
The explanation does no good and Seiver is eliminated, though not without trying to see some sort of supervisor on his way out. Fricke now has 135,000.
