2018 World Series of Poker main event runner-up Tony Miles announced he will be competing on NBC’s American Ninja Warrior for a second time.
Miles, who won $5 million after getting bested by John Cynn in the main event nearly three years ago, posted on his Instagram page that he would be heading to Washington to compete in the newest season of the show. According to his post, the show will air on May 31.
It’s a homecoming of sorts for Miles as the Florida resident went to high school in Tacoma. He first competed on the television show in Atlanta during the summer of 2019. He booked a bet with good friend and 2018 WSOP Player of the Year winner Shaun Deeb that he could not only get on the show but complete the qualifying course.
The terms of the bet were based over a three-year timeframe for Miles. He got 25:1 for the first year, 20:1 for the second and 15:1 for the third and final year.
Miles bet $5,000 and got on the show in 2019, thus starting the clock on the bet. He stood to win $125,000 if he completed the course but fell during the course’s third obstacle. The COVID-19 pandemic squashed any hopes of winning $100,000 from Deeb in 2020 but has a chance to win $75,000 if he finishes the course this year.
Just got the call! I’ve officially been selected to compete on American Ninja Warrior this season. Terms of the bet with @shaundeeb are 3 years to make it through stage 1. Odds are 25:1 for first year. 20:1 for yr 2. 15:1 for yr 3. 5k—>125k this year. #ANW #NinjaWarrior #LetsGo
