An Illinois auto dealer was the winner of a $1.2 million parlay off a $30,000 bet, according to reports and the gambler’s Twitter account.
Marco Piemonte bet on a five-leg parlay that included the Georgia vs. Alabama National Championship contest as the final leg. The Bulldogs won 33-18 on Monday, enough to give Piemonte the big win. He had multiple opportunities to cash out his bet earlier.
His wager came with +3923 odds, and the bet was placed on the PointsBet sportsbook, which is sanctioned by a growing number of U.S. states.
“They offered me multiple cashouts. It got as low as $387,000 and it got as high as $1 million when Georgia took the lead in the fourth quarter,” Piemonte said. “I won’t lie. I almost flinched and took the $1 million.”

In addition to betting on the Bulldogs, Piemonte also wagered on four NFL games, taking the points with the Los Angeles Rams, and the moneyline with the Cincinnati Bengals, Los Angeles Chargers, and Arizona Cardinals.
“We loved watching every minute of it,” said PointsBet USA CEO Johnny Aitken. “PointsBet’s mission is to deliver the best betting experience in the U.S. and when someone like Marco bets with our sportsbook, we know we are on the right track.”
However, the payout was a liability for the house, of course.
“For the most part, you look at a bet like that and you just don’t think it’s going to win because there’s so many things that have to go right, but here we are,” said Jay Croucher, the director of trading at PointsBet.
Piemonte reportedly already has other five-figure bets in the works.
