Brock Parker defeated a tough final table that included Daniel Negreanu and Barry Shulman to win event No. 14 ($2,500 six-handed limit hold’em) at the World Series of Poker on Sunday, June 7. Parker was awarded $223,688 for finishing in the top spot out of a field of 367 players.
The final day of play began with 11 players still in the mix. Negreanu was looking to win his fifth gold bracelet but just missed, busting out in second place. Barry Shulman was looking to win a second bracelet, but he busted in fifth place. Parker came into the final heads-up match trailing Negreanu, but he was able to come from behind and claim the victory.

Kyle Ray Eliminated in Sixth Place ($31,966)
Kevin Hong raised to 24,000 from middle position, and action folded to Ray in the small blind. He called all in, and the players tabled their hands.

Ray was dominated preflop, but the flop was very helpful, giving him an open-ended straight draw. The turn added more outs as he developed a flush draw. But the river was a brick for Ray, and he was the first casualty of the final table, exiting in sixth place and pocketing $31,966.
Barry Shulman Eliminated in Fifth Place ($43,201)
Barry Shulman was extremely short-stacked when Tommi Horkko raised to 40,000. He reraised the last of his stack into the pot, and Daniel Negreanu made the call, as did Horkko. The flop came down J 2 2, and Horkko bet 20,000. Negreanu mucked, and the remaining players showed down their hands.

The turn was the 7, and the river brought the A, failing to improve Shulman’s hand, and he was knocked out in fifth place.
Kevin Hong Eliminated in Fourth Place($60,885)
Brock Parker raised to 100,000 preflop, and Daniel Negreanu three-bet to 150,000. It was then Hong’s turn to raise it up, as he four-bet to 200,000. Both opponents called, and the flop came 9 5 2. Hong led out for 50,000, and both opponents called. The turn was the J, and Hong bet 100,000. Parker then raised to 200,000, and Negreanu mucked. Hong called his remaining stack into the pot, and both players showed their hands.

Parker flopped a set, and Hong needed to hit a 10 for a straight to double up. The river brought the 5, giving Parker quads and sending Hong out in fourth place.

Daniel Negreanu raised to 60,000 before the flop, Tommi Horkko reraised to 90,00 and Negreanu called. The flop came A 10 4, and Negreanu checked. Horkko bet 30,000, and Negreanu called. The turn was the 10, and Negreanu bet 60,000. Horrko raised to 120,000, Negreanu three-bet to 180,000, Horkko four-bet all in, and Negreanu called.
