EPTIt’s not only the field sizes that are growing on the European Poker Tour, it’s also the number and variety of tournaments that are being offered. PokerStars has released the schedule of events for the upcoming EPT London stop, and players will be more than happy with the added tournaments.

From Sept. 30-Oct. 7, the EPT London Poker Festival will feature new events, such as the £2,000 European 8-Game Championship, a £1,000 pot-limit Omaha eight-or-better event, and a £1,000 six-handed no-limit hold’em event, among others, with 16 in total.

Michael MartinThe series will still feature staples such as the £5,000 main event and the £20,000 high-roller event. These tournaments were both won by Americans last year with Michael Martin (pictured left) pocketing $1,753,600 for the main event and Jason Mercier (pictured below right) banking $905,141 in the high-roller tourney.

“The PokerStars.com EPT London Poker Festival will have a rich mix of games and buy-ins to cater to the most players possible in a compelling schedule — by poker players, for poker players,” said EPT Founder John Duthie. “This continues on the fundamental programming shift made for last season’s EPT Grand Final, where we tried to create the best opportunity for all of our players, not just higher rollers, to play a wide mix of poker games and formats at a variety of accessible buy-ins."

Jason MercierThe EPT London Poker Festival will no doubt benefit from the World Series of Poker Europe series that runs just before at the nearby Casino at the Empire. The WSOPE is scheduled from Sept. 18-Oct. 1 before all of the action moves over to the London Hilton Metropole Hotel.

The tournament was previously held at the Grosvenor Victoria Casino, but officials expect a much larger field than last year’s count of 596 and need the extra space. The extra space will accommodate as much as 800 players, and PokerStars is anticipating a main-event prize pool that could grow to as much as £4 million.

Players wishing to win their way in ahead of time can do so on PokerStars. The site is running satellites around the clock that will only increase in frequency as the tournament series nears.

Of the seven first-half stops already scheduled fore season 6 of the EPT, three have already confirmed high-roller events, including London, Ukraine, and the Bahamas, though more are likely to be added as the dates near. The new season kicks off on Aug. 18 in Kiev, Ukraine, before moving on to Barcelona, Spain. EPT Ukraine is a last-minute replacement for the previously schedule EPT Moscow, which was removed due to pending legality issues in Russia.
