The National Heads-Up Poker Championship, which was taped at the Caesars Palace Poker Room March 5-7, features 64 top poker players competing in a series of heads-up no-limit hold’em matches. This tournament has a unique, single-elimination, bracket-style format modeled after college basketball’s championship tournament, except that the finals are the best of three.

The tournament’s invite-only format (plus seven online qualifiers) guarantees a star-studded event of poker’s elite, including defending champion Huck Seed, Chris Ferguson, 2009 World Series of Poker main event champion Joe Cada, Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey (pictured above right) and Daniel Negreanu, among others.
